No Lyme Disease Detected Here

Health officials with the Northwestern Health Unit are on the watch following two confirmed cases of lyme disease in Thunder Bay.

Public Health Inspector Kurt Casey says so far, there's been no signs of the disease in this area.

"We don't have any confirmed cases of lyme disease for humans," says Casey. "Right now the Health Unit just practicing education for the public. Any time a deer tick is found on a human we send it away for testing for the bacteria."

Casey says the heavy season for deer ticks ends in mid-July.
