Education will be in the spotlight this week.
It's education week in Ontario, and Superintendent of Education for the Rainy River District School Board, Heather Campbell says each school will celebrating in their own unique way through pancake breakfasts, school visits and displays.
"It's sort of a glimpse of what we're doing within our schools as far as community building," says Campbell. "A lot of the activities are tied to the curriculum. We have our public speaking contests within the schools. The co-operate display day is part of the secondary school curriculum. Every thing's tied to curriculum and its also about bringing parents and community members into the school to see the great things going on."
It's also Catholic Education week.
Education Director for the Northwest Catholic District School Board Mary-Catherine Kelly their schools will be celebrating the important of catholic education locally
"As a catholic school system, we're a schools of hope," says Kelly. That's our motto. And through this week, we focus on five themes that are talking about our catholic values. We talk about embracing hope, celebrating with joy, building community, growing in integrity and living with gratitude."
