Lakehead University will be providing science classes to kids across Northwestern Ontario for another three years.
The university received $36,000 in grant money for its outreach program.
L.U. student Brenda Magajna says the program is designed for grades 7 to 12.
"We're trying to give them a feel for what kind of things they could be doing if they went into the field of science and biotechnology," says Magajna. "We do an outbreak activity where all they are doing is exchanges pieces of paper and we discuss how germs are spread. So we're talking a little of epidemiology."
In the past, the workshops have been held in Fort Frances, Dryden and Atikokan.
