Welfare Recipients Get Increase

People who receive social assistance in Ontario will see a slight increase on their cheques this month.

A one per cent hike in the Ontario Disability Support Program benefit went into effect Sunday.

A similar increase for people receiving Ontario Works happens October 1.

The increases were first announced in the provincial spring budget.
